Terekhol: Terekhol Police on Monday seized a canoe and five cubic metres of sand which was being extracted at Naibag, Pernem.
The raid was conducted on Monday morning around 4.50 am by Terekhol Coastal police team consisting of PSI Yogesh Shirodkar, Police constables Aditya Shetye and others. The team while patrolling in Tirol River through the Coastal Boat at Naibag, Pernem found illegal sand extraction activity happening.
Police immediately stopped the activity and seized a canoe which was used in the extraction. They also seized five cubic metres of the sand, all worth Rs 2.60 lakh.
The case under relevant sections of BNS and Goa, Daman and Diu Mines and Minerals Act has been registered.
