Mapusa Sub-Division police after conducting surprise M.V. violation checking exercise in an around school premises have seized 11 scooters/ motorcycles after minor children were found to be riding them.
As per SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi a drive was conducted during which 03 bikes bearing no 1. GA 03 AE 4167, 2. GA 03 S 2376 and 3. MH 12 KV 9149 were seized by Mapusa Police Station. Colvale police station have seized 07 bikes bearing reg no 1. GA-03-AQ-9762, 2. GA-03-S-8044, 3.GA-03-AG-2831, 4. GA-03-AN-8650, 5.GA-03-AQ-1289, 6.GA-08-AN-7373, 7. GA-04-D-8014, 8. GA-04-D-9164 and 01 bike bearing reg no: GA 03 S 2937 has been seized by Anjuna Police.
The parents of the minor children and the bike owners have been called at the police station and counselling is being done.
As this is the first time, they are being given warning and a report will be submitted to the Education Department and other authorities.
The parents/ owners of the vehicles have been issued challan U/s 4 (Allowing minor to ride/ drive Motor Vehicle), & Sec 5 (Allowing unauthorized person to ride/ drive Motor Vehicle and for contravention of Sec. 3& 4 and contravention of Rules U/s 181 of M.V. Rule) This drive will continue and stringent action will be initiated hence forth against the minor children and their parents.
