Panaji: The trains on Konkan Railway Corporation Limited’s route has begun taking their usual route through Pernem tunnel in Goa from Tuesday, ending its month-long diversion due to the landslide.

The trains on KRCL route were diverted since August 06, after landslide occurred 300 metres inside Pernem tunnel due to heavy rains that lashed the Western coast then.

The KRCL on Tuesday announced that the restoration work in the tunnel is completed and “track fit” certificate has been issued.

“The restoration work of Pernem tunnel at Km 384/6-7 between Madure and Pernem station of Karwar region is successfully completed and the track fit certificate was issued at 22.00 hrs on September 15, 2020 and traffic is restored,” the spokesman said.

All the six trains which were either diverted  via  Madgaon-Londa-Miraj-Pune-Panvel or cancelled have been restored to their original route, he added.
