Jessica Snock to participate in women’s day

Panaji: In honour of International Women’s Day, an engaging celebration is scheduled to take place at West
Coast Sports & Cultural Club, Baga, Goa on 08th March 2021 from 05:00 pm to 07:30 pm. This
International Women’s Day Celebration 2021 hosted by Jessica Snock, aims at bringing women of all
ages together, allowing each one of them to meet and interact with women from various walks of life,
sharing experiences and celebrating womanhood. This will aid in encouraging women of our society to
believe in and foster a sense of women empowerment, stand for women’s rights and support gender
equality. THE SNOCK – headed by Jessica Snock – Chairman of the trust who is currently residing in Goa.
She is a native of the northeastern state of Nagaland. She emerged victorious at the Mrs United Nations
Universe 2019 and proudly represents India as an ambassador for the United Nations Peace Keeping
Forces Council – South East Asia. “I wish to celebrate this historic day and encourage those around me
to not only respect, care and love women but also to treat all genders equally” Jessica quoted, leading
by example following this year’s theme for Women’s Day – ‘Women In Leadership – Achieving an equal
future in a COVID-19 world’.
The celebration scheduled is set to display football, volleyball and rugby exhibition matches along with
activities like Tug-O-War, live performance and interactions. Also, under this year’s theme, the event is
set to host icons of ‘Women in Leadership’ – Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world’.
Sarpanch, Parra Village Panchayat, Smt. Delilah Lobo will be the Chief Guest and Smt. Valanka Alemao
will be the Guest of Honour along with Shri. Michael Lobo as the Special Invitee who has shown his
immense support towards celebrating the essence of womanhood.
The 8th of March marks the celebration of International Women’s Day. Over a century ago, in the year
1908, 15,000 women came along and protested low pay, long work hours and lack of voting rights in
New York. It was after the Socialist Party of America celebrating Women’s Day in the year 1909 for the
first time, was it proposed at the 1910 International Socialist Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark that
an annual women’s day be celebrated.
