IGNOU Regional Centre – Goa Holds 38th Convocation

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre, Panaji, Goa, successfully conducted its 38th Convocation, celebrating the academic achievements of its learners. The grand event was held at Lekha Bhavan, Porvorim, on March 5, 2025, with Shri Subash Phal Dessai, Minister for Social Welfare, Government of Goa, as the esteemed Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest in Delhi was Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Education, Government of India. The Convocation was held across 37 Regional Centres nationwide, with a total of 3,17,000 degrees awarded.

At the Goa Regional Centre, a total of 1,401 students were awarded degrees and diplomas in various disciplines, reflecting IGNOU’s commitment to providing quality education through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. Addressing the graduating students, Shri Subash Phal Dessai commended IGNOU’s role in democratizing education and providing opportunities to learners from diverse backgrounds, particularly those from remote and marginalized communities.

The Regional Director, Dr. G. Shrinivas, presented the Regional Centre’s report, highlighting key achievements, learner support initiatives, and the growing impact of IGNOU’s academic programs in the region. He emphasized lifelong learning and encouraged graduates to apply their acquired knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to society.

The convocation was attended by distinguished academicians, government officials, faculty members, and proud parents of the graduates. The event concluded with the conferment of degrees, inspiring students to embark on new professional and academic journeys.
