IFFI to have additional seating capacity

PANAJI: The upcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will have increase in the seat capacity with additional open air screening planned for this edition.

50th Edition of IFFI would be held in Goa between November 20-28.

State Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told reporters that the total seat capacity for the festival has been increased from 2538 to 3218, while two open air screens from the earlier one screen would be made available for the delegates.

He said that more than 8,000 delegates are expected to participate in the festival.

The chief minister held review meeting of the festival preparations in presence of Subhas Faldesai, Vice Chairman of Entertainment Society of Goa, a state run agency to host the festival.

Sawant said that various fringe activities have been organised which will be open for the non-delegates including a section on films curated by Goa based Art College of Goa.

A special children’s village would be put up for the kids, he said adding that activities like cultural program, food and handicraft stalls, exhibitions on film and entertainment and others would be organised.

He said that the IFFI will have helpline number with dedicated call centre and also there will be ticketless entry system through RFID enabled Delegate Cards.

In a step to make IFFI plastic free, the chief minister said the glass bottles instead of plastic would be used.
