The Ribandar Health Care Committee while expressing concern over the delay in setting up the promised 30 bedded Health Centre at the Old Ribandar Hospital has urged the government to speed up on the solemn assurance given to the people.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues has stated that the Committee at its emergency meeting today decided to request the government to expeditiously sort out the issue as the proposed Health Centre at the Old Ribandar Hospital besides catering to the needs of a densely populated Ribandar would also serve the residents of neighboring Old Goa, Chimbel, Merces and Divar.

Pointing that the local MLA Babush Monserrate had on 9th October promised that the Health Centre at the Old Ribandar Hospital would start with a 30 bedded facility along with a 24×7 casualty unit and later expanded in phases to be a full fledged hospital, Adv. Aires Rodrigues has expressed the hope that the MLA will pursue this issue vigorously.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues has further stated that the Ribandar Health Care Committee which met Chief
Minister Pramod Sawant on 15th October was given a categorical assurance while the MLA along with Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and health officials visited the Old Ribandar Hospital on that same day and announced that a 30 bedded Health Centre with emergency Medical care facilities would be started there.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues has accused Ayush Minister Shripad Naik of high-handedly sabotaging the Health Centre project as on account of vested interests he wants to set up an Ayush Yoga Centre there.

Stating that the setting up of the much needed full fledged Health Centre has to be a top priority, Adv. Aires Rodrigues has reminded the Ayush Minister that recently while he was infected with COVID-19 his Ayush doctors were of no avail but that it was Allopathic medicine that came to rescue of the Ayush Minister.

While stating that the Old Ribandar hospital was Asia’s first medical school established on 13th December 1867 having a very glorious history and the priceless heritage structure needs to be preserved at all cost, Adv. Aires Rodrigues has expressed the need to maintain history of the hospital by restoring a fully fledged State of the art medical centre at the Hospital with all possible health care facilities.

Standing by the statements he has made against Siddesh Shripad Naik and his father Ayush Minister Shripad Naik, Adv. Aires Rodrigues has stated that if they feel defamed the only legal remedy for them is to move the Court under Section 499 read with Section 500 of Indian Penal Code which he would welcome.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues has stated that the legal battle would be an opportunity to expose the organized corruption going on in the Ayush Ministry where contractors and suppliers meeting Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik are directed to contact his
son Siddesh Naik and negotiate.
