Canacona: After being booked for trespassing into the premises of two resorts in Canacona, Congress leader Janardhan Bhandari and others were questioned by the police for the second consecutive day.
A senior police official said that Bhandari was called to the police station on Friday and was summoned again on Saturday. The accused has been cooperating with the police and appearing before them.
The hotels — Lalit Golf and Spa and Cloud 8 Sarovar Premier — have filed complaints with Canacona police against Bhandari and others for trespassing into their hotels and threatening the staff.
Canacona police have booked the accused for unlawful assembly, rioting, trespassing, criminal intimidation, causing hurt to another person, mischief, and breach of peace.
As per the complaint filed by Amit Prabhu, owner of Cloud 8 Sarovar Premier situated at Nagorcem, Palolem, on December 12, 2024, at around 12:45 pm, the accused persons, including Janardhan Bhandari, Vaishnav Pednekar, Ravish Komarpant, Suresh Metri, and 25 others, in furtherance of their common objective, formed an unlawful assembly and forcibly trespassed into Cloud 8 Sarovar Premier Hotel, Nagorcem-Palolem, Canacona, Goa. They thereafter abused and threatened the staff and management of the hotel with dire consequences.
The above-noted accused persons blocked the entry and exit gate of the hotel by parking two- and four-wheelers at the gate, thereby wrongfully restraining the movement of guests and hotel staff.
In yet another complaint, Ajay Upadhyay, General Manager of Bharat Hotels Limited, Canacona, stated that on December 12, at The Lalit Golf & Spa Resort, Canacona, the accused persons — namely Yash Pagi, Sahil Gaonkar, Janardhan Bhandari, Vaishnav Pandekar, and 25 others — in furtherance of their common objective, formed an unlawful assembly and trespassed into The Lalit Golf & Spa Resort, Canacona, and threatened the security officer, Laxman, with dire consequences.
The above-noted accused persons also abused and assaulted the staff of The Lalit Golf & Spa Resort as well as damaged the hotel property.
