Govt announce holiday on Monday; seven day State mourning

Panaji: State government has announced public holiday on Monday to mourn the death of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Seven day State mourning from March 18 to March 24 is also been announced by the government.

Notification issued by Joint Secretary  Varsha Naik has stated that as a mark of respect to the departed soul, all the State government offices, local/ autonomous bodies, public sector undertaking, all educational institutions including the aided institutions shall remain closed on March 18.

“As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, seven days State mourning will be observed throughout the State of Goa,” it added.

During the period of State mourning the national flag will fly at Half Mast on all the Buildings throughout the State of Goa where it is regularly flown and there will be no official entertainment.
