Governor visits Navelim under Goa Sampurna Yatra


Panaji: Governor of Goa, Shri. P. S. Sreedharan Pillai today visited Navelim constituency, South Goa under Goa Sampurna yatra wherein he disbursed financial assistance to dialysis and cancer patients.
Governor, while interacting with sarpanchas and other panch members of local panchayats in Navelim constituency stated that, as the people are supreme in the democratic set up of the country Raj Bhavan has come at the doorstep of people extending financial support and expressing it’s commitment towards serving the people, instead of calling the people to Raj Bhavan.
Governor expressed his satisfaction as the major part of Goa has been covered under his unique Goa Sampurna Yatra initiative. The initiative has successfully extended financial help to more than thousand dialysis and cancer patients. Governor also informed large number of orphanages, old age homes and other human service organizations received financial help under the initiative implemented by utilising Governor Discretionary Funds.
Our country has always worked for maintaining peace and harmony among the societies and promoted unity among every section of people. We are required to prevail this unity and social harmony by rendering selfless service to people, Governor added.
Shri. Pillai speaking on the occasion also expressed his happiness as the Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi took over presidency of G20 summit at Bali, Indonesia.
Governor lauded folk artists who performed kunbi dance on the occasion and expressed need to further nurture the craft for next generations.
MLA, Shri. Ulhas Tuyenkar lauded the efforts of Governor for implementing Goa Sampurna Yatra. He also informed Governor about various progress and development achieved by the people in Navelim constituency.
Earlier, Governor Shri. Pillai Visited Shree Damodar Sal, Margao where Swami Vivekananda had stayed during his historic visit to Goa. Margao MLA, Shri. Digamber Kamat, owner of the house Shri. Pradeep Nayak and others were present on the occasion. Governor invoked blessing of Lord Damodar at Damodar Sal.
During his visit to Navelim constituency Shri. Pillai paid visit to Our Lady of Rosary Church and invoked blessings.
Secretary to Governor, Shri. Mihir Vardhan, IAS(Retd), Additional Collector Shri. Paresh Phaldessai, Sub Divisional Officer, Salcete Smt. Egna Cleetus, IAS, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Coutinho, ZP Member Shri. Edwin Cardozo, Shri. Paresh Naik were present on the occasion.
