GOVERNOR VISITS MATRUCHAYYA & GIRLS HOME IN MAPUSA

Panaji, March 3, 2025: Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai paid courtesy visits to Matruchayya, Khorlim, Mapusa, and Sr. Christobele’s Trust, Mother Teresa Roses (Girls Home), where he interacted with the inmates. He also handed over financial assistance to both institutions.

On his arrival at Matruchayya, Khorlim, Mapusa, Deputy Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Joshua Peter D’Souza welcomed the Governor by offering a sapling.

Others present included Priya Mishal, Chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council, Anup Keni, President of Matruchayya, Rajiv Neugi, Industrialist, Sarita Prabhu, President of Matruchayya, Mapusa, Madhukar Dixit, Founder Member of Matruchayya, and Sagar Sacordekar, Joint Secretary.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that people are always supreme. Recognizing their importance, he stated that he intends to visit various institutions working for the needy and extend financial support to them.

The Governor appreciated the work of Matruchayya, describing it as a great organization dedicated to helping the needy in Goa.

Speaking on the occasion, Joshua Peter D’Souza assured all possible support to Matruchayya and acknowledged its continuous efforts to provide children with parental affection and care.

Mihir Vardhan, Special Officer, spoke about the various activities undertaken by Raj Bhavan and mentioned that more than Rs. 6 crores had been distributed as financial assistance to needy patients across the state.

A cheque of Rs. One lakh was handed over to the President of Matruchayya and another to Little Angels Home for children from Chorao village.

Shri M. R. M. Rao, IAS, Secretary to the Governor, was also present during the visit.

At Sr. Christobele’s Trust, Mother Teresa Roses (Girls Home) in Parra, Bardez, the Governor was welcomed by MLAs Michael Lobo and Delilah Lobo, along with Sarpanch Daniel Lobo and other members, who presented him with a bouquet of flowers.

A cheque of Rs. One lakh was handed over to Sr. Christobele’s Trust, Mother Teresa Roses (Girls Home) at Parra.

Anup Keni, President of Matruchayya, welcomed the guests. Kum. Sindiya Aroskar compered the function, while Sarita Prabhu proposed the vote of thanks.
