Goa’s COVID-19 positivity continues to peak on Tuesday, 592 fresh infections reported

Panaji:  With 592 fresh cases of COVID-19 infection detected on Tuesday, the coastal state of Goa continued to face peak of infection with positivity rate touching 13.89 per cent mark.

The state government has imposed curbs in the state for indoor activity while educational institutions continue to remain shut down. As per health department data, 592 fresh infections were reported on Tuesday taking the toll to 1,82,793.

The positivity was 13.89 per cent on Tuesday which was lower compared to Monday that reported 26.43 per cent. The positivity was 10.7 per cent on Sunday.

The figures of fatalities due to COVID-19 infection touched 3,525 as two of the patients succumbed to the infection during the day.

The number of recovered patients in the state rose to 176505 with 67 of them getting discharged on Tuesday. The number of active cases has peaked to 2763, the official said.

“With 4261 new tests, the total number of tests conducted in the state has gone up to 16,41,352,”  he added.
