Panaji: Goa Cabinet on Wednesday decided to recommend to the Prime Minister’s Office that the current lockdown due to COVID-19 should continue till April 30.
The state cabinet which was chaired by chief minister Pramod Sawant also decided that the Section 144 of CrPC should continue to be enforced till COVID-19 situation improves nationally.
“It was decided to recommend to the PMO that the current lockdown due to Coronavirus situation should be continued till April 30. This is considering the rising number of patients nationally,” State Port Minister Michael Lobo told.
He said that though the situation in Goa is much under control with only seven positive patients, the lockdown has to continue till April 30 in the wake of national scenario.
He said that the state cabinet also recommended that the section 144 of CrPC which is imposed in the state to avoid crowding and implement social distancing should continue till COVID-19 situation is completely under control.
PM had asked the states to give their recommendations on the current 21-day-long lockdown which is supposed to be ending on April 14.
