The Assembly Session of Goa will begin from July 28 onwards.
Talking to reporters, Sawant stated that during his Delhi visit on Sunday-Monday, the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mineral Exploration Corporation of India to explore ore deposits and mining leases in the state.
He said that the state government will also pass “Mining Corporation Bill” during the upcoming session. “Once the mining corporation is formed, its rules will be formed on a fast-track basis. Some of the leases in the state will be auctioned through the corporation,” the chief minister said.
The mining activity in Goa has come to a standstill after Supreme Court’s order quashing 88 mining leases in the year 2018.
Sawant said that the process of auctioning the mining leases will begin after an exploration of the mining deposits is conducted by the Mineral Exploration Corporation of India.
