The chief minister said that Goa is “one step ahead of other states in implementing NEP in its educational institutes.”

“From next academic year onwards, we will be introducing foundation course and the syllabus at graduation level,” he said.

Sawant said that State Directorate of Technical Education, Director of Skill Development Department and Director of Higher Education has been asked to address “some confusion” prevailing over implementation of NEP in the technical education.

The chief minister said that all the stakeholders including managements and teachers of educational institutes should contribute for the implementation of NEP. “It is not the sole responsibility of the state government,” he said.

Sawant said that the two committees led by State WRD minister  Subhash Shirodkar and former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar are working on rolling out the NEP in the state.

“All the educational institutions including those imparting skilled and technical training are taken on board to decide implementation of the NEP,” he said adding that 1,247 pre-primary schools have also been registered with the Education department.

Sawant said that the syllabus for Foundation Course and Foundation Course I and Foundation Course II is ready while master trainers are also trained for its implementation.
