Panaji: The Goa government will soon distribute orders for the regularisation of houses to more than 5,000 people, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said.

Talking to reporters after chairing a Cabinet meeting, Sawant said that around 3,000 orders for the regularisation of houses under the flagship “Mhaje Ghar” scheme are either ready or have already been distributed.

Sawant said that the state government will hold a special programme on Thursday at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, to distribute orders to approximately 1,000 people whose houses have been regularised under this scheme.

The Chief Minister said that the state government will also set up special counters during the programme to help beneficiaries complete the required formalities.

Sawant said that, as per the latest review, a total of 3,000 orders have been issued under this scheme, while the target is to reach 5,000 soon after conducting programmes in both districts.

The Chief Minister appealed to beneficiaries to apply for the regularisation of their houses under this scheme.

The Mhaje Ghar scheme is a housing regularisation initiative of the Government of Goa. It aims to provide legal ownership rights to residents of unauthorised houses built over decades on government or community land.
