Panaji: Goa Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar on Friday said that he would be summoning former state minister Prakash Velip over the baseless allegations made against him.
During the ongoing Budget session, the Speaker told the House that there was a media statement by former minister Prakash Velip made against him.
The allegations levelled against me are ‘baseless’ and they were made when Assembly is in session, when I enjoy special powers being the Speaker.
“There are special privileges to the Speaker and his statements amounts to the insult to the position,” he said.
The Speaker said that he has summoned Velip in the House seeking the explanation from him for his conduct.
Further, the Speaker also warned action against the media houses which has covered the statement made by Velip.
