Goa Police on High Alert After Email Threatens to Attack DGP’s Office

Panaji: Goa Police’s security unit and district police were put on high alert in the coastal state on Saturday after an email threatened an IED attack targeting the Director General of Police (DGP) office.

Security around the police headquarters in Panaji and the official residence of DGP Alok Kumar was heightened on Saturday. Thorough security checks were conducted at the police headquarters.

In a media statement, Goa Police stated that at 9:09 AM on Saturday, an email was received on the DGP Goa’s official email, containing a threat of an IED attack targeting the DGP office.

“Immediately, Goa Police’s security unit and district police were placed on high alert. They are conducting checks based on the standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid down,” the statement read.

The cybercrime unit is currently investigating the origin of the email, police officials confirmed.
