Porvorim: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that Goa government will amend its ambitious Cyber Age scheme which was providing laptops to the school students at a nominal price.
Parrikar said that the State government is contemplating to amend the Cyber Age scheme, wherein more computers would be provided to the schools, rather than giving it to the students.
“We are still thinking about it. I can see media sitting here and listening to me. Tomorrow they should not publish that government will stop distributing laptop to the students. We are still thinking and we have not yet decided what to do,” the chief minister said.
“The students take laptop and put it for sell on online website. We have decided to amend cyber age scheme. We will not allow the students to own it and instead we will upgrade the computer lab,” he said.
“The scheme will change but we have not decided what to do. We are discussing the issue on logistics and statistics and based on that we will work out,” he said in the same breathe.
The chief minister said that last financial year Rs 65 crore and this year Rs 32 crore were spent on the scheme.
