Panaji: The markets across the State are abuzz with the activities as thousands of people had thronged for the last minute shopping to celebrate ten-day-long Chovoth.
Hindu households will worship Idol of Lord Ganesh at their Homes tomorrow, September 13. The last minute preparations are in progress.
In Panaji market, the shops were prominently seen selling food items, fruits, vegetable and the material required for decoration.
Time for Homecoming
Chovoth is the time for home-coming as the cities will wear deserted look from tomorrow while villages will be filled with activities. The government offices have holiday tomorrow while the educational institutions will have week long vacation till Monday.
The villages in rural-most parts of Goa will come alive with the Aaratis, Fugdyo and other cultural activities during the celebration.
Police on alert
Goa police are on alert and has increased patrolling across the cities to avoid the houses being targeted by thieves. Usually thieves target the houses during this period as people are not around.
