Fatorda: Goa Forward Party on Saturday said that their commitment to the State government is perhaps more than their senior ally, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

GFP Chief and Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai told reporters that it is his party that gave the leadership to BJP in the form of Manohar Parrikar when the State government was formed after Goa Assembly Election results in the year 2017.

Sardesai was reacting to the possibilities of his party joining hands with Congress to form alternate government in the State.

“The State government was formed by us and we had given leadership to BJP in the form of Manohar Parrikar. Today Parrikar is not amongst us, but our commitment to this government is as much, or perhaps more, than the BJP,” he said.

Sardesai said that his party would do everything possible to keep the government firm in the saddle.

He also said that his party is a part of National Democratic Alliance and every communication with regards to state is conveyed only through the central leadership of BJP.

“We are in good relations with national leadership of BJP including present Union Home Minister Amit Shah,” Sardesai said.
