Panaji: Goa aims to increase the turnover under the National Livelihood Mission program from the current ₹342 crore to ₹600 crore with the inclusion of more women self-help groups, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said.

Addressing a function in his constituency of Sankhalim on Saturday, the Chief Minister also appealed to more women to join self-help groups and avail the benefits.

Sawant stated that under the National Livelihood Mission, the state government’s Rural Development Agency (RDA) has 3,200 self-help groups registered.

“These 3,200 groups cover 42,000 women across the state who have benefited from the central government’s self-employment scheme,” he said, adding that these groups have achieved a turnover of ₹342 crore since the scheme’s implementation.

The Chief Minister said the state government aims to increase the turnover to ₹600 crore and expand the number of self-help groups to at least 6,000.

He highlighted that these groups are eligible for bank loans of up to ₹20 lakh without any guarantee. “Modi ji is the guarantor here, ensuring that banks do not require beneficiaries to provide a government servant’s signature as surety,” Sawant said.
