Panaji: The team of doctors at Goa Medical College and Hospital’s casualty performed one of the rarest operation to save a child, who had a iron rod gate puncturing his cheek.
The boy was playing near Ramnagar Durgah when he had climbed up the gate but accidently fell down. A rod of the gate punctured his cheek and he was stuck in it.
The locals ferried the boy and the gate to casualty of GMCH where the team of doctors operated and removed the rod. Dr Jaya Karmali Mhambre did the commendable job by getting the operation done with local anaesthesia.
The boy was brought to the hospital in 108 Ambulance after locals informed Police about the incident.
The health of boy is stable now and he is taking treatment in GMCH.
