Panaji: The resignation by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar has fuelled speculations about new formation within the state unit.

While one of the group is pitching for former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat for the post of party chief while giving the responsibility of Leader of Opposition to Luizinho Faleiro.

Kamat’s has been a good administrator with the experience of being Chief Minister of the state.

Another group is pitching for Fransisco Sardinha as party Goa unit chief. Sardinha’s sudden emergence in media scenes and vociferous behaviour through press conferences is also one of the reason why speculations are rife that he is willing to take up the responsibility.

Interestingly, the party cadres from South Goa are upset with Sardinha as he has miserably failed to keep up his promise to visit the constituency since the time he was elected to Lok Sabha.

Sardinha was also absent from the public life for months before starting his regular press conferences in South Goa.

Chodankar after his resignation has remained away from issuing any statement. Www.goanewshub.com was the only media that managed to get Chodankar to confirm about his resignation.

His exit from the post has not augured well for many of his supporters, while it is also seen as a good omen for the move of Mahagathbandhan ahead of upcoming Goa Assembly election.

Goa Forward party, NCP and other like-minded forces have always proposed Mahagathbandhan, which was opposed by Chodankar who wanted Congress to fight the election on the basis of its own strength.
