Margao: Goa Forward Party on Tuesday welcomed the women reservation bill, which was introduced in the Parliament.
GFP chief Vijai Sardesai, in a statement issued here, has said that his party welcomes the bill and hope that representation to women will be followed with elected representatives having the merit to take up core issues of almost 50 per cent of the world’s largest democracy.
GFP had contested the 2022 Goa legislative assembly election in alliance with Congress party. The party has one MLA in 40-seat-House.
Women’s Reservation Bill that seeks to provide 33 per cent quota for women in Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
