Fatorda: The Goa Forward Party, an alliance partner of the Congress in the coastal state, has decided to onboard a professional agency to assess its strengths and weaknesses on the ground ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.
GFP president Vijai Sardesai that the party is in the process of onboarding an agency that will conduct a scientific and detailed survey ahead of the state legislative assembly elections.
The GFP had contested four seats in alliance with the Congress party in the 2022 Goa Legislative Assembly elections, winning only one. Sardesai was elected from his traditional Fatorda Assembly constituency in 2022. The Congress, along with its allies, had won 11 out of 40 constituencies.
Sardesai said the survey by the professional agency will help the party “understand its strengths, weaknesses and its traction among voters ahead of the Assembly elections.” He added that the party will take its next steps based on the survey findings.
He said that opposition parties should be able to tap into the anti-incumbency sentiment against the BJP government in Goa.
“Anti-incumbency sentiment defeated the DMK in Tamil Nadu. A similar sentiment is running high against the BJP government in Goa. To tap this, it is incumbent upon opposition parties to come together and defeat the BJP,” he added.
