Margao: Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai has reacted sharply to the incident of Hospicio Hospital staff asking the relatives of the COVID-19 patient to take his body home and dispose off on their own.
In a series of tweets Sardesai has termed the behaviour of government has insensitive, while also raising questions as to why the morgue at New District Hospital has not been inaugurated.
“Accordign to Govt guidelines, dead body must be handled by trained health professional wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE). How does Hospicio then ask relative to take dead body of Covid19 patient home in the dead of the night in their own hearse van,” he questioned.
He has also questioned why is morgue at New District Hospital of 72 slots, handed over to DHS by GSIDC 2 months ago not made operational? Covid19 surge continues and death toll mounts (2 in Fatorda last night) & Govt has different plans for the new morgue? Reserve one third for Covid patients within 24 hrs,” he tweeted.
