Panaji: Goa government has appointed former judges Desmond D’Costa and Pramod Kamat as members of the Goa Human Rights Commission.
While D’Costa was formerly Principal District and Sessions Court Judge, Kamat was formerly District and Sessions Judge.
D’Costa has been given charge as the chairman of the commission.
The issue about appointing the members on the commission was raised in the past by Fatorda MLA and Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai, who had demanded with State chief secretary that chairperson be appointed as more than 500 cases are pending.
