FDA Conducts Food Inspection Drive at Salcete

March 10, 2025, Panaji: The Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (DFDA) conducted a routine inspection drive in Salcete taluka today, where five units were found manufacturing and packing fryums and namkeen without a valid food license and under unhygienic conditions. A namkeen manufacturing unit was also inspected during the visit.

The final food packets lacked proper label declarations as per FSSAI packaging and labeling regulations. Around 80 kg of fryums and colored pipes (namkeen), approximately worth ₹96,000, were detained from these units and later destroyed by officials in the interest of public health.

The above manufacturers were also directed to cease their food business activities. The inspection was conducted under the guidance of Designated Officer South Goa, Sanjyot Kudalkar, along with Food Safety Officials Priya, Madhav, Amardeep, and DFDA staff members Sainath and Sandeep. The drive was carried out under the leadership of DFDA official Shweta Dessai.
