Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told House that the State government along with Centre, is working on various methods for resumption of iron ore mining activities in the State.

Sawant said that government is considering whether to go for legislative way or judicial way to restart the ore extraction activities. “The clarity on the same would be given before end of the current session. Central government will hold another round of meeting on mining this week,” he said.

He also said that by October, mining activities, in form of e-auction of ore and handling of dumps, will resume.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister has issued directions to the Mines department to conduct survey to identify the number of workers retrenched by the mining companies. “Mining companies should not have done this. They should have waited another three months maximum,” he stated.
