Quepem: The tussle between Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa and former MLA Babu Kavlekar is getting stronger. After Kavlekar accused D’Costa of taking credit for hotmixing of Vavurla road, the latter has released documents which reveals that the work was sanctioned during his tenure.
Kavlekar talking to select media at his residence had said that D’Costa was spreading lies about Vavurla road. He had said that D’Costa was taking credit for the work done during his tenure.
Minutes after the video was posted on social media, D’Costa’s office released minutes of the Goa State Works Board meeting held on October 04, 2023 which has discussed the approved “construction of road from Vavurla to Kudnem in Quepem constituency.”
The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel with Principal Secretary (Finance) Dr V Candavelou, Principal Chief Engineer (PWD) Uttam Parsekar and Additional Secretary Vikas Naik Gaunekar attending it.
What makes D’Costa’s claims stronger is that the meeting has specifically mentioned that “the tender for the this work is invited for the first time through e-tendering.”
Kavlekar who has been projecting himself as a strong contender for BJP’s ticket for South Goa Parliamentary seat has been caught in a piquant situation after this expose.
