Panaji: At the backdrop of BJP ally, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) giving clean chit to Sanatan Sanstha, the Congress party Thursdray said that the political parties should keep away from extremist groups.

“One cannot support any extremist groups. Congress is always against creation of division amongst the society,” All India Congress Committee Secretary A Chellakumar said.

He was reacting to the statement by MGP President Dipak Dhavalikar who had given clean chit to Sanatan Sanstha, which was embroiled in the controversy surrounding killing of rationalist writers and thinkers.

“All political parties should keep away from any extremist group whether it is in religious form or any other form,” he said.

“As the sanstha is doing good work, there are some people who want to project them as wrong-doers. This tirade against the sanstha will continue,” Dhavalikar, who is a minister in the BJP-led state government, “ Dhavalikar had said on Saturday.

The Sanatan Sanstha teaches spirituality which is very important in today’s world,”he had said.
“I am giving them a clean chit. They are not involved in the killing of any rationalist, writer or thinker, which they have been accused of,” Dhavalikar had said.

Sanatan Sanstha is headquartered at Ramnathi village in Madkai assembly constituency which is represented by MGP legislator Sudin Dhavalikar.
