COVID-19 positive cases breaks all records, 108 new patients, total six dead

Panaji: Goa reported highest spike in the COVID-19 on Saturday with 108 people testing positive on a single day, and two patients succumbed to the virus.

As per the health bulletin issued on Saturday, while a 74-year-old lady who was admitted in ESI hospital after testing positive died on Friday evening, another 45-year-old man from Vasco town, who was positive expired at his residence.

The total number of deaths has touched six in the coastal state, which was declared green zone on May 03 but later witnessed a major spike in the COVID-19 cases.

Health bulletin mentions that 108 new people were tested positive on Saturday while 53 were sent home after their recovery from the infection.

This is the biggest spike as on Thursday, 95 people had tested positive while on Friday, the number of people found infected was 94.

The officials said that out of 2240 samples that were tested on Saturday, 1356 are negative and reports on 776 are awaited.

While COVID-19 patients are detected from all across the state, the town of Vasco in South Goa and areas surrounding it are the biggest contributor for the outbreak.

The areas like Mangor Hill, Sada, Baina, New Vaddem, Zuarinagar, Kharewada continue reporting positive cases.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s Assembly constituency of Sankhalim has reported 44 cases till date.

Margao town in South Goa reported 20 cases while Mapusa city has reported eleven cases till Saturday.
