COVID-19: 64 new cases, 72 recovered, Goa continues to witness the spike

Panaji: Goa continued reporting spike in the number of COVID-19 cases with the infection reaching to the rural most parts of the state.

State government’s Health bulletin mentioned that on Tuesday 64 new people with COVID-19 infection were detected in the state, while 72 people who were being treated were discharged from different covidcare facilities.

As on Tuesday, Goa has 1315 confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection of which 716 are active, 596 recovered and three dead.

The health bulletin mentions that on Tuesday, out of 2529 samples tested, 1794 are negative and 671 reports are awaited.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s Sankhalim assembly constituency was amongst the areas which reported new cases on Tuesday.

Sankhalim in North Goa reported total 27 cases till Tuesday while  Curtorim in South Goa had 31 people who tested positive for coronavirus infection.

State’s slums also continued to be affected with the virus. AFter the biggest spike at Mangor Hill slum area in Vasco reported last month, the areas of Moti Dongor in Margao and Zuarinagar in Vasco (both slum areas) were declared as Containment Zones on Monday evening.
