COVID-19: 49 new infection, 13 people cured, tally crosses 700 mark

Panaji: Goa on Thursday reported 49 new cases of COVID-19 infection taking the number of confirmed cases to 705 in the coastal state.

As per the Health department’s bulletin released on Thursday evening, the infection has spread across the state including the areas like Raia, Curtorim in South Goa and Chimbel and Morlem in North Goa.

The maximum infection was reported from Mangor Hill area of Vasco from where 313 people were tested positive. The area has already been notified as a containment zone by state authorities.

The Mangor Hill area was also responsible for spreading infection to 181 people who are classified as “Mangor Hill related cases” by the state government while tabulating the details.

The state has 596 active cases of which 49 was fresh infection reported on Thursday, while on the same day, 13 people had recovered.

The infection has also spread to areas like Curtorim and Raia in South Goa which were not figuring on COVID-19 map till date.

In addition to the local infection, 70 people who have travelled by road, train and flights are amongst the active cases which are currently being treated for the infection.

Goa’s COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases: 705, new cases: 49, deaths: nil, discharged: 109, active cases 596, Samples tested till date: 46995.
