Court grants bail to two arrested for allegedly raping 40-year-old woman

Panaji: North Goa District Court today granted bail to two accused who are booked for allegedly raping a 40-year-old woman and throwing her out of car at Miramar.

Judge Sherin Paul granted bail to Gautam Raikar and Sarvesh Kauthankar who were arrested by Panaji police after a woman claimed that she was raped and then thrown out of the car by them.

Advocate Vinay Patkar appearing on behalf of both the accused argued that the woman had come with the consent and there was no instance of rape on her.

The judge granted bail to both the accused by asking them to furnish bond of Rs 25,000. They have been asked to cooperate with police and not to interfere with the investigation.

The accused will have to report to Investigating officer for seven days. They are also forbidden from leaving Goa without proper permission.

The woman had alleged that her leg was fractured when she was thrown out by the accused.
