Panaji: Fearing Goans losing out on their identity with influx of migrations from other parts of the country into the coastal State, Congress party has demanded reservation for Niz Goenkar in government jobs and education sector.
Addressing a press conference, Congress spokesperson Agnelo Fernandes questioned that if Maharashtra government can give reservation to Maratha community then why can’t in Goa we have reservation for Niz goenkar?
He said that the traditional Goans, whose fore-fathers have their roots in Goa should be categorized as niz goenkar.
