Panaji: Congress party today questioned Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s silence on the crucial mining issue in his video message that was released on Sunday during BJP’s booth convention addressed by BJP national president Amit Shah.
Addressing a press conference, Congress spokesperson Sidhanath Buyao said that they were surprised that Parrikar, who otherwise speaks of Nation first and eventually State first, was busy talking about his party in two minute video. “He was more bothered about the Lok Sabha elections, which BJP is going to lose,” he said.
“There was no statement on mining, mhadei and several unconstitutional things that are currently happening in Goa. As a chief minister, who claims to be fully concerned about the state should have been speaking on these issues,” Buyao said.
Congress leader charged that Parrikar was made as a puppet only to make party survive with the sympathy over his health. “BJP can stoop down to any level to stick to the power in any State, so also in Goa. While we wish speedy recovery and fully sympathies with chief minister, the way he was used to troubleshoot the situation after congress demanded full time chief minister, was pathetic,” Buyao stated.
Parrikar through his video message informed booth workers that his treatment is getting success and he will be back in next few weeks.
Further, Buyao also said that Amit Shah’s silence on the Mhadei issue clearly indicated that he did made the promise to provide water to Karnataka people during election rally. “If he had not promised, he would have made some statement in Goa,” he stated.
He slammed the BJP leaders for using Mhadei river issue for their political benefits.
