Panaji: The political idea of alliance between Congress, Goa Forward Party and Revolutionary Goans Party does not seem to be cakewalk in the coastal state.
After the pre-Diwali political showdown by the leader of three political parties including Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, MLA Altone D’Costa, GFP President Vijai Sardesai, RGP chief Manoj Parab, the response from the Big bother does not seems to be encouraging.
While there was no follow up statement from GPCC President Amit Patkar validating the move by its senior leaders — Alemao and D’Costa, party’s social media incharge Divyakumar’s posts on X handle were speaking the language of defiance.
On Thursday evening, Divyakumar who is Social Media Chairman of Indian National Congress’ Goa unit, posted a video of Patkar and Viriato Fernandes which said “All is Well”
When asked about joint venture for 2027, Patkar said “Palovya” means “we will see.”
He also posted “All is well. The final decision regarding the alliance will come at the right time by the Party. Until then, all Congress workers should focus on strengthening the party and not to get distracted by rumours or speculations from other parties.”
When GNH broke the news about his post, on Friday morning, Divyakumar again wrote “Is it wrong to focus on strengthening our own party? Congress believes in democratic decision-making and any alliance decision will be taken after due consultation with all concerned office bearers, elected representatives. Til then, our focus remains on building a stronger Congress.”
GNH tried to reach out to Patkar but till filing of this news, he did not accept our phone calls. May be he is busy in the meetings. Expecting him to revert the calls so that we get more clarity on the issue.
