Margao: Reacting sharply to the statement of Margao MLA and PWD Minister Digambar Kamat over the Sarvajanik Ganeshutsav Pandal scam, the Margao Congress Block slammed the Minister for trying to give a religious color to the scam exposed by the Margao Block.
Margao Block Convener Savio Coutinho questioned MLA Digambar Kamat over the purpose of parading Congress candidates at various religious places to swear an oath against defection. “When you yourself have gone against your oath before the Gods, you have no moral right to give a religious color to the misappropriation of public funds in the name of Ganeshutsav,” Coutinho said.
He further stated that PWD Minister Digambar Kamat is trying to suggest that the scam occurred when Chief Minister Pramod Sawant was the PWD Minister. “It therefore becomes necessary for the Chief Minister to also clarify on this matter,” he added.
Damodar Onskar slammed the MLA for his attempt to give a religious tone to the scam and said that Kamat has been badly exposed in this matter.
The Margao Congress Block stated that the issue will be pursued to its logical conclusion to ensure that the funds are returned to the eight Mandals or the public exchequer.
