Panaji: Two national parties – Congress and Aam Admi Party (AAP) – have demanded action against the organizers of Sunburn EDM festival for insulting Hindu deity Lord Shiva.

While Congress leader Vijay Bhike has filed a formal police complaint at Mapusa on Friday night against the organizers of Sunburn, AAP Goa chief Amit Palekar has also said that state government should take action against them (organizers) for hurting “Sanatan Dharma.”

Sunburn EDM which has started from December 28 at Vagator in North Goa will wind up on Saturday, December 30.

“We saw that Lord Shankar’s pictures were used during the festival. It was flashed on LED screen when people were drunk and dancing,” Palekar said talking to reporters on Friday.

The AAP leader said that they have demanded from the government that the action be taken as “the sanctity of our Sanatan Dharma is affected.”

“The use of our God for the purpose of EDM festival where alcohol is served is not right. We have called up Director General of Police (DGP) to register offence against Sunburn festival organizers,” he added.

In yet another development, senior Goa Congress leader Vijay Bhike has filed complaint at Mapusa police station claiming that “organizers have intentionally insulted the religious feelings of Hindus by portraying that Lord Shiva supports drinking alcohol, consumption of prohibited substance and all other illicit activities that take place during the event.”
