Aam Aadmi Party while taking note of the upsurge in number of Covid cases in Goa has questioned Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s attempts to control it and in fact questioned whether his reaction is befitting a person who belongs to the medical profession.
AAP Goa Convener Rahul Mhambre asked why there are no restriction at all on public gatherings at night clubs, casinos, trade fairs at all while welcoming the restricting on gatherings for religious programmes like Holi, Eid and Easter.
“It is not understood why there are restrictions for religious programmes but no restrictions at all for commercial ventures,” he said while wondering whether the organizers of the commercial programmes have also filled up the pockets of the administration.
Rahul also demanded that all people visiting Goa from any place in the world should be asked to produce a certificate stating that they are negative for Covid as is done by some other places.
He also mocked at the imposition of Section 144 as it is being treated as a joke. “Gatherings of more than four people can be seen at every city corner and market place and in such situation how can there be imposition of Section 144,” he asked besides pointing out that in many villages on Sunday there were gram sabhas held in total violation of Section 144.
“It is really very clear that the Dr Pramod Sawant government is not at all bothered about Covid cases rising and maintaining the covid protocol but is only interested in furthering the business interest of the casino lobby which has already been given huge tax benefits earlier,” said Rahul.
