Panaji: The State government has constituted a nine-member committee to prepare a roadmap for formulation of State level export strategy with a focus on to build the right eco-system that can promote exports.
“The Government is committed to develop an export strategy that will benefit local exporters and help the State realize its export potential. The objective is to identify the potential export sectors; identify issues related to government agencies and also suggest measures to boost exports from the State,” the note issued by the Industries department, reads.
The committee comprises of industrial experts, secretary and director industries as its members.
The committee has to discuss and deliberate on the potential of harnessing Geographical Indicator (GI) based products which have great export potential from the respective districts in the State by creating awareness, orientation and training.
It needs to build the right eco-system that can promote exports. The linkages between exports, manufacturing investment, ease of doing business, skilling, etc. Need to identify and address the logistics and infrastructure gaps which affect India’s exports.
To emphasize on areas like promotion of standards, certification and traceback; export logistics; services export; value addition in the exports of goods; organic cultivation and certification.
