Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday assured to resolve the issue of Iron Ore mining in the State within six months.
Sawant told reporters at the sideline of a press conference that he being from the mining area, has been well versed with the issue.
“I am from the mining area. I know the people. People from the mining belt know me. I will resolve the issue within six months,” the Chief Minister told reporters.
The Iron ore mining business has come to a standstill since last year after Supreme Court quashed 88 leases. The people dependent on mining industry under the banner of Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF) have been agitating demanding resumption of the industry.
The closure of the mining industry has affected around two lakh people, who were dependent on it.
