Cabinet grants extension for off shore casinos to operate for another 6 months in River Mandovi

Panaji: Goa Cabinet on Wednesday approved the extension for the off shore casinos to operate in River Mandovi by another six months.

The vessels laden with the Casinos, anchored in River Mandovi, can continue their operations for another six months from March 31 till September 30.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told reporters that the State Cabinet has granted the extension for the off shore casinos to remain in River Mandovi.

He said that the government has not taken any decision on moving them out of the River. Sawant said that the off shore casino vessels will continue in River Mandovi till alternate place is recommended to them.

State government then led by Manohar Parrikar had said that the off shore casinos would be moving out of River Mandovi to another location owing to the opposition from the locals and NGOs.
