“The BJP government in Goa is not only trying hard to destroy our state with its rich culture and unique identity but also trying to erase the memory of our first chief minister Bhausaheb Bandodkar, along with that of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Babasaheb Ambedkar”. Stated Goa Forward President Vijai Sardesai.

Referring to the news that government offices, corporations and local bodies have been asked to display the photo of chief minister Dr. Pramod Sawant along with that of the Prime Minister, President and Mahatma Gandhi, Fatorda MLA Sardesai said that while engaging in self glorification, CM Sawant has disregarded Bhausaheb Bandodkar, Nehru and Ambedkar.

“How can the Chief Minister play with the sentiments of Goans and the people of our nation? While he attempts to fulfil the demand of the apex organisation of his party to erase the history of leaders they dislike, we will make sure that BJP’s wicked agenda will never become a reality. We will fight for their memory, and the rightful place of these leaders in our history.” Sardesai said.

“Bhausaheb Bandodkar was a visionary leader. He brought vast reforms in education, making it a point to establish a school in every village. The credit for Goa’s literacy goes to him. He is in the hearts and minds of Goemkars, and hence BJP will never succeed in its political agenda to undermine the culture and history of Goa.” He added.

He said that the BJP government has disgraced Goa at the international level in the field of education. UNESCO had exposed the pathetic state of Goan schools with its report that 239 of these schools are equipped with a single teacher. “With such acts, it is evident that the Chief Minister is serious only about self promotion and furthering a particular agenda of an organization and not about promoting education or looking after the welfare of our students”. Sardesai charged.
