Panaji: After a short break, BJP on Monday resumed their activities to form the new government in Goa with two central observers expected to arrive later in the evening.

Senior BJP leaders  B L Santhosh and Piyush Goyal would be arriving in Goa on Monday evening, a senior party official said adding that both the observers will hold “one to one meeting with the winning candidates of the party.”

BJP has won on 20 seats in Goa Legislative Assembly emerging as a single largest political party. Three Independents have tendered their support to BJP along with Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, which is having two MLAs.

The party is yet to stake their claim to form the government, even four days after the results are announced, despite having majority number by their side.

Party sources stated that incumbent chief minister Pramod Sawant is likely to continue in the Chair but he has been challenged by Vishwajit Rane, who won with a good margin from his traditional Valpoi assembly constituency.

Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai has summoned one day long Assembly session on Tuesday during which all the newly elected MLAs will be administered oath. The tenure of current Goa Legislative Assembly gets over on March 15, 2022.
