Panaji: Bharatiya Janata Party seems to have hit the dead end over the issue of resumption of mining industry. After dishing out deadlines after deadlines, the party seems to have run out of any more announcements on this issue.

Even as recently held Cabinet meeting chaired by CM Manohar Parrikar was expected to work out some instant solution or way ahead for the crisis, the BJP MLAs were left with only one option – re-approach BJP National President Amit Shah.

Party spokesman Nilesh Cabral who was vocal and rebellious addressing Goa Mining People’s Front in New Delhi seems to have toned down while Speaker Pramod Sawant too has been avoiding to address this issue. Vishwajit Rane too have made no difference to the cause from the time he addressed workers in Delhi and then returned to the State.

On Saturday, Cabral had assured to provide solution within 2-3 days, which was another deadline given by the BJP. When contacted whether they would be going to Delhi on December 26, Cabral reacted “nothing is decided. We will let you know.”

The mining dependents are pushed to the edge with majority of the mining companies giving up the hopes. The retrenchment and lay offs are going to be the future course of action for the mining firms, who have retained their workforce till date.

BJP Goa unit President Vinay Tendulkar, who was at the receiving end, has now began blaming Congress for the fiasco. “We would have taken up the issue during Zero Hour or through Calling Attention Motion in the Parliament, but Congress did not let the House run,” Tendulkar said.

He said this during a press conference in Panaji and also repeated it in his speech during inauguration of Khandepar bridge.

With the time passing away, the mining dependents are staring at uncertain future with BJP likely to face the music during upcoming Parliamentary election.
