Panaji: Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday filed a formal police complaint against unknown person for forging their letter head and issuing fake press note through social media.

BJP’s senior leader Dipak Mhapsekar in a formal complaint lodged before Panaji Police Station has said that the note has been crated on a forged letterhead of BJP’s Panaji mandal with an intention to misuse his name and tarnish his reputation and position.

“This amounts to a gross violation of my rights and should be dealt with most strictly. The contents of the forged note are intended to create a feeling of discomfort and falsehood amongst the larger public,” the complaint reads.

Mhapsekar has demanded that the strictest of action and appropriate punishment be meted out to the perpetrators of the note on an immediate basis.

Panaji Police Inspector Sudesh Naik said that the complaint has been referred to higher ups for further action.

In a note that was circulated on social media on Friday, Mhapsekar was quoted as saying that the ticket for Panaji by elections should not be given to son of Manohar Parrikar. The note had claimed that Mhapsekar was supporting candidature of former Panaji MLA Siddharth Kuncolienkar. The dates for Panaji by election are yet to be announced.
