Porvorim:Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told the House that the new Education Policy would be implemented in the state only after taking the concerned institutions into confidence.

The opposition benches including Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Goa Forward Party MLA Vijai Sardesai, Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte, MGP MLA Sudin Dhavalikar Congress MLA Luizinho Faleiro expressed concerns over implementation of the policy.

The Question was raised on the floor of the House by NCP MLA Churchill Alemao.

Responding to the apprehensions, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the National Education Policy will be implemented after taking all the institutions into confidence.

“We have already started survey about the infrastructure in various schools,” he said.

Speaking during the Question Hour, Lourenco expressed fear that the New Education Policy will usurp into the rights of the institutions run by minority institutions.

He said that the state government should clarify on the issue.

Sardesai said that  there is a concept of ‘cluster’ in the New Education Policy. “The schools run by Diocesan Society are worried whether after the cluster, their unique existence would be maintained or it will be diluted,” he said.

“Do not implement the National Education Policy in haste,” he said.

Khaunte  said that the government has not done  impact assessment after implementation of National Education Policy. “When structure is changing, the repercussions should be studied. CM should hold half a day or day long discussion on the NEP in the State legislative Assembly,” he said.

“The issue is about impact assessment on the existing infrastructure. Everybody will have to start planning in the manner,” he said.
